The 'opalcalypse'

The ‘opalcalypse’

Looking at the available financial data, Rock Island is now OPALCO’s “hobby business.” It will always be unprofitable and will always need to be supported by ever higher electric bills.

Because most of Rock Island’s debt and expenses will continue to be paid by OPALCO, more products and services sold by Rock Island means more financial hardship and health risk for everyone.

I have empathy for the people that try to quiet their own inner sadness by purchasing products, but concern for our fellow islanders is more important. Slowing the “opalcalypse” and caring for our neighbors means we must all boycott Rock Island (Except DSL of course, it’s harmless and those techies over there really hate that “old technology”).
