Having read the July 21 issue of The Journal, I have come up empty on the race for sheriff.

The letter from four officers criticizing Jeff Asher are very much self-serving. In his own letter of defense, Asher thinks that the sheriff should have caught the Barefoot Bandit.

I am left with no choice.

The letter from four officers does praise the "steady leadership" of Sheriff Bill Cumming. I admire our sheriff too. Come on, Bill, lets make it 28 years, and I could die happy.
