An open letter to Lisa Anderson, president of the San Juan Public Schools Foundation.

For all who attended the 2010 Public Schools Foundation Knowledge Bowl, might I presume to say “thank you.”

Thank you for collecting and donating $110,689 to the children of the San Juan Island School District. The money is so appreciated and well used for much-needed instructional materials.

Thank you for several hours of good clean fun. For entertainment and camaraderie with just a pinch of much enjoyed spice added by keeping score.

And, as a spokesman for the schools, thank you for presenting an academic competition in a powerful public forum.

The work done by the members of the San Juan Island Public Schools Foundation is extraordinary. Your personal leadership and the community leadership of your team is exemplary to us all.

Respectfully,

Walt Wegener
Superintendent
San Juan Island School District
