There are many ways to thank someone for their brilliance at expressing an innate passion for people and their work, and often I find that cookies and pizza work wonders.

However, today I choose to thank my friend Richard Walker for the depth of his reporting, and for making a huge difference in my career over the years. I fully appreciate the hours of writing, and preparation before going to press each week, let alone the endless meetings that must be attended.

Having had the privilege of working with you this January and February during the Friday Harbor Centennial celebration preparation, I got to see first hand the dedication involved. Truly no words will suffice.

May you continue to grace our town and county with your commitment to excellence.
