On behalf of Island Rec and its Board of Commissioners, I want to thank Joyce Sobel, director of the San Juan Island Family Resource Center, and Laura Tretter, director of the San Juan Island Library.

With their interest in young families in mind, they used their resources and leadership to improve one of Island Rec’s parks, the Family Park at the Fairgrounds. Help from volunteers like Janice Otto from the Montessori School and Jim Thomas at the library made the Grand Opening of the Born Learning Trail a success on Saturday, May 23rd.

If you haven’t been by to check it out with your little one, you should stop by. The interactive signs provide a new dimension to playing at the park with your child, grandchild, niece, nephew or summer guest!

Thank you Joyce and Laura for enhancing Island Rec’s popular playground for our local children.

Commissioner, Island Rec
