Taproot Theatre’s message about bullying

A little note of good things happening at Friday Harbor Elementary School this morning (Sept. 25).

Taproot Theatre Touring Group came to present their new show, a bullying prevention theme, “Alexander and the Dragon.” The sponsors are the elementary school PTA and San Juan Island Prevention Coalition.

The first- through fifth-graders went on a magical journey in this production as a student realizes his friend is bullying the new kid at school.

They help the kids to remember the 3 R’s: recognize, refuse, report the bullying behavior. The students of FHES also signed a “banner contract” with the word RESPECT on it, to help start the school year off on a positive note.

Our new principal, Gary Pflueger, has jumped right in and has shown the meaning of respect. Thank you!
