Rumors about pre-election phone calls are false | Letters

It has come to my attention that some false information has been circulating around the islands regarding the current election for the new County Council.

While the county Democrats have been phoning citizens to remind them to vote, they have not said that The Friends of the San Juans have endorsed any candidate. The Friends of the San Juans never endorse political candidates.

It is true that the new charter states that the new council positions are non partisan; however, groups can endorse candidates if they feel that acertain candidate practices their values. So, after sending out a questionnaire to all council candidates asking them about their values and ideas for the future of our lovely islands, it was decided by vote that the San Juan County Democrats would endorse three candidates.

Please go to the San Juan County Democrats website for more information and remember to vote.
