Our community is fortunate to have Ralph Hahn step forward to run for the SJI School Board.

As principal of Friday Harbor High School, Ralph created and nurtured a student and parent-friendly, supportive high school. He worked his whole career in education and was principal of Sonoma HS, a California Distinguished School, before he and Marcy moved to San Juan Island in the mid 1990's.

He is a respected member of the community and is known for his good judgment, easy-going manner and ability to listen and get along with all parties.

We believe that Ralph Hahn needs to be on the School Board. He thoroughly knows and understands school systems and, although he has no desire to miscro-manage as a board member, his knowledge and expertise will be vital as the new school board makes tough decisions that will affect our school district's future.

After gathering and listening to all community input — much of which may be conflicting — decisions will be determined by the judgment and wisdom of our elected board members. The two of us have spent a combined 20 years as principals on San Jua Island and deeply care about the impact that this election will have on our community, its children and its sense of place.

Please join us in electing Ralph Hahn to the SJI School Board.
