Post office is a poor place for dogs — here's why | Letters
July 27, 2011 · 1:15 PM
Not a pleasant topic, but it needs to be addressed.
The vast majority of our customers at the Friday Harbor post office are friendly, considerate and, when necessary, maintain a patient demeanor.
Occasionally we ask for some help. This is one of those times.
Despite signs posted that no dogs are allowed in the building, which is per the Postal Inspection Service for all postal facilities, our employees have cleaned up dog feces at least three times in the past few months.
Number one, unless it’s a guide dog, which is allowed, the animal should not be in the building. Number two, well, let’s stick to number one.
It’s goes without saying that this is your office, your community, and you all represent this great town.
Let’s not let our guard down when you use this facility.
Your neighbors and my employees will appreciate the help.
Randy Bennett
Postmaster, F.H.
