Prentice Bloedel II, born Bellingham Wash., 26 May 1926, died Port Townsend, Wash, 18 August 2016.

Prentice Bloedel II, born in Bellingham, Wash., on May 26, 1926, and died in Port Townsend, Wash., on Aug. 18, 2016. Among many other passions in life, he was a dedicated sailor who proudly named his trimaran Noctilio. He cofounded the Orca Survey (now the Center For Whale Research) with his good friend Ken Balcomb) operated out of Friday Harbor. He moored there as well as in Port Orchard, Port Townsend and Lasqueti, BC. Prentice leaves his beloved wife Heidi, sister Pamela, children Carla, Ellen and Lawrence (Luke), grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by first wife Flora, parents Lawrence and Eleanore Bloedel and uncle Prentice.
