Nell McLean Weaver | June 20, 1930-June 6, 2019

Nell McLean Weaver, 88, of Friday Harbor, passed peacefully at her residence on Thursday, June 6, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee, the daughter of Douglas and Mary (McCrory) McLean.

Nell grew up on a dairy farm in Cornersville, Tennessee, with her siblings, a brother and sister. She graduated as class salutatorian from Cornersville High School in 1948 and attended a business school in Nashville to become a bookkeeper. Nell then moved to Washington, D.C., to broaden her career prospects. It was there that she met the love of her life, Wally Weaver in 1952. They married the same year and two daughters, Lexie and Deborah, were born to them.

In 1957, the Weavers moved to Annapolis, Maryland, where they spent their next 28 years. She worked as the purchasing agent for the District Court of the State of Maryland. Upon retirement, the Weavers moved to Friday Harbor, Washington, in 1985. Nell spent her free time volunteering at the San Juan Library, an activity which spanned over a period of 25 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years; two daughters; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. In accordance with Nell’s request, she will be interred at the Valley Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
