Cary Dean Buterbaugh | April 3, 1965-May 4, 2019

Cary Dean Buterbaugh, resident of Friday Harbor, born on April 3, 1965, of Anaheim, California, passed away on May 4, 2019, at age 54. He was predeceased by his parents, James K. and Phyllis Yvonne Buterbaugh also of Friday Harbor. He is survived by his son Jordan Buterbaugh; two brothers: Gregory (Deborah) and Randy (Elizabeth) Buterbaugh; his Aunt Pamela McArthur; beloved nieces: Morgan, Sarah (Jason Rich) Buterbaugh and Kristina Isphording; and nephew Shelby Buterbaugh.

Cary had a passion for hockey, was a creator of jokes and had a love of poetry. Whether watching games or playing in various leagues, including his time at the University of Western Washington, he was always captivated by the sport. Cary had the gift of filling a room with laughter when it came to his jokes and constantly spreading smiles. He also had a love for writing poetry. Although most were kept to himself, the ones that were shared were intimate, comforting and helped to ease burdens to those who were lucky enough to be in his presence.

Like his father James, Cary was loved by many, never met a stranger and welcomed everyone around him with loving arms.
