Betty Goff | 1936-2017

Betty May Goff, 81, of Burlington and formerly of Friday Harbor, Washington, passed away on Sunday morning, May 14, 2017 peacefully in her sleep at home.

She was born January 26, 1936, in Hay Springs, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Maisie (Henny) Johnson, and she had three brothers and one sister: Bud, Henry Jr., Donny and Joanne.

Betty graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1954, and for a year, taught as a teacher in a one room school house. She married George Goff in 1955, and during the first years of their marriage, they were share croppers in Nebraska. They and their two children Becky and Mike moved to Friday Harbor in 1962, where they were part of the Friday Harbor community for 34 years. They moved to Burlington in 1996 until her passing away.

Betty drove for UPS for many years and loved to golf, bowl and go to the casino (where she won a lot). Her door was always open to visitors, she loved to laugh, and most importantly, family was first. Betty was a loving wife, mother, supportive grandmother and an awesome great-grandmother.

She is survived by her two children Mike and Becky; 4 grandchildren: Justin, Rachel, Travis and Kerri and her seven great-grandchildren: Steven, Abbey, Clara, Little Georgie, Emil, Maisie and Charli. “If you don’t have fun, it’s nobody’s fault but your own.” Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel of Anacortes, Washington.
