Women’s March on Friday Harbor mirrors national rallies

About 1,400 islanders joined the Women’s March on Friday Harbor on Jan. 21. An estimated 500,000 marched in the rally’s original location of D.C. In Seattle, about 175,000 joined. Marches were held in cities throughout the world, from Chicago to London. In Friday Harbor, they protested for reproductive rights, clean waters in the Salish Sea and more.

“We wanted this event to happen in Friday Harbor because we think our community would benefit from the same opportunity for dialogue as the many major cities that are holding sister events with the national march in D.C,” said organizers before the event.
