Burn ban for campfires and barbecues lifted in San Juan County | Update

Submitted by San Juan County

With the recent moist weather, recreational fires are again allowed in provided campfire rings in the three county parks campgrounds, as of Sept. 5.

As of Aug. 29, the burn ban for campfires and charcoal barbecues was lifted in San Juan County. Humidity levels, rising fuel moisture and precipitation in the county warranted a lift on the burn ban. The lift only applies to campfires and barbecues. Residential burning, burning of yard waste with a permit and commercial burning with a permit, will resume sometime in October.
