San Juan Islander Tapia-Rojas found deceased after reported missing

On Thursday, July 20, Jonathan Tapia-Rojas, who was in his mid-20s, was reported missing by his family. It was further reported he had not been seen since Tuesday. An extensive search between locals and the sheriff’s office was conducted. On Saturday morning a Friday Harbor resident found a deceased body in the woods off Finnegan Ridge Road. The deceased was identified as the missing man.

At this time the sheriff’s office is ruling it a suicide.

According to the website, Tapia-Rojas had been battling depression for some time.
