The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

July 10

• A deputy responded to a reported theft in Friday Harbor. After further investigation, probable cause was found to charge three suspects for second-degree theft.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor responded to a delayed report of possible fraud. It was determined that there was no loss incurred, the reporting party had already notified the credit agencies and an information report was made. No further investigation is needed.

• Lopez deputies ticketed a loaded boat trailer that was left illegally parked on Islandale Road near Tekoa Avenue, blocking a lane of travel on a curve near the intersection.

• A deputy responded to a threats call near Eastsound and took a report.

July 11

• A Lopez resident reported the theft of items from his home. The theft occurred several months ago while he was off island.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 41 mph in a 25 mph speed zone. The driver was issued citations for speeding, for not having insurance and for not having a valid license with ID.

• A driver on San Juan received a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign.

July 12

• Deputies and Orcas Island Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the Eastsound area. The sole occupant of the vehicle, the driver, was treated for minor injuries and then arrested for driving under the influence. The vehicle was impounded. A report will follow.

• Deputies and emergency medical services responded to a report of a man in the water off Lopez. The man was outside his boat with no personal flotation devices available. The man was evaluated by EMS on shore and issued a citation for failing to have a PFD available for use.

• A deputy responded to a call of a runaway juvenile near Eastsound. A pick-up notice was signed by the parent since the child’s location was unknown.

• A Lopez deputy investigated a complaint of a hit-and-run collision with a parked vehicle. The incident likely occurred in the grocery store parking lot on July 3.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 42 mph in a 25 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.

• San Juan deputies responded to an assault at the ferry landing. The suspect was arrested for assault in the fourth degree and for having weapons apparently capable of producing bodily harm.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for a defective brake light. The driver received citations for not having a valid license with ID and for not having insurance.

• A driver on San Juan who was repeatedly crossing the centerline was stopped and issued a citation for driving left-of-center.

July 13

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle with a defective headlight. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license, and received citations for the defective headlight and not having insurance.

• A deputy was dispatched to a poaching call on San Juan island.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a trespasser. The suspect was located and arrested for second-degree trespassing, fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest.

• Management of a store on Lopez requested that a person be escorted from the property. The involved male will be issued a trespass admonishment letter.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a warning for speeding.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a citation for traveling 41 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a noise disturbance at a vacation rental home.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a warning for speeding.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence assault. The suspect was located and arrested for violating an order, assault in the fourth degree and for intimidating a witness.

• A driver on Orcas was stopped by deputies and received a citation for speeding.

• A deputy on Orcas issued a ticket for mooring at a public landing, a violation of San Juan County Code 10.28.010.

• A traffic stop on Orcas resulted in the driver receiving a warning for a broken taillight lens.

• A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Orcas and issued the driver a warning for a defective taillight.

July 14

• A Lopez deputy took a report of a stolen vehicle. The car was later recovered intact by police in Federal Way, Washington.

• A deputy on Lopez assisted with moving a broken-down vehicle out of the intersection of Ferry Road at Port Stanley Road until other help arrived.

• After contacting a person reportedly intoxicated and sleeping outside an Orcas business, the man left the area voluntarily and on foot.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and the driver was issued a warning for speeding.

• A call about an animal-at-large ended with and Orcas deputy contacting the owner and arranging for pickup.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a speeding citation for traveling 49 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• Deputies stopped a driver on Orcas for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. The driver received a warning.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a driver for traveling 45 mph in a 25 mph zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.

• A driver on Orcas was stopped for speeding and received a warning.

• A ticket for mooring at a public landing was issued by a deputy on Orcas.

July 15

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a forgery call in the Eastsound area. The investigation is ongoing.

• In Eastsound, a deputy recognized a suspect wanted on an arrest warrant. The suspect was arrested, transported to Friday Harbor and booked into the San Juan County Jail without incident.

• A Lopez deputy was told about a deceased sea lion on a southend private beach. The sea lion had been dead for quite some time and was moving with the tide. No further action was required.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for defective brake lights. The driver was issued a citation for failing to obtain a Washington state driver’s license.

July 16

• Deputies on Orcas issued a ticket for a violation of San Juan County Code 10.28.010, mooring at a public landing.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of two dogs fighting.

• A Lopez deputy took a theft report from a resident who discovered a tool missing from his property.

• A Lopez resident had been receiving threats and contacted deputies, who filed a report.

• A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Orcas. The driver was issued a citation for speeding, 41 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A deputy on Orcas issued a driver a warning for failing to yield the right-of-way.

• Deputies on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a warning for speeding.

• A driver on Orcas was stopped by deputies for traveling 38 mph in a 25 mph zone, and issued a citation for speeding.

• After receiving a theft complaint, Orcas deputies contacted the victim and started an investigation.
