San Juan County Council meeting to discuss comprehensive plan vision

The San Juan County Council will discuss the San Juan County Planning Commission’s recommended amendments to the county’s comprehensive plan vision on June 11.

The county council and planning commission held a joint public hearing regarding the proposed amendments on May 18. Following the public hearing, the planning commission considered public comments and arrived at a recommendation to the county council. The planning commission’s recommended amendments can be found in the staff report available at

The planning commission began working on amendments to the vision at their meeting on January 19. Amendments were discussed and public comments were considered at the Feb. 16, March 16, April 20, and May 18 planning commission meetings. Oral comments were received during each of these meetings and 120 written public comments were considered by the planning commission in the process of composing these amendments.
