The San Juan County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on an ordinance repealing sections of the San Juan County code on adopting new flood hazard control regulations (15.12.010-15.12.200 of Chapter 15.12 SJCC) and amending another section (Chapter 18.80.140 SJCC). The proposed ordinance adopts new maps identifying the county’s special flood hazard areas and updates the development regulations applicable to all new and substantially improved structures in the special flood hazard areas.
The hearing will begin at or after 9 a.m., Friday, May 18 in the San Juan County Council Chambers, 55 Second St. Interested parties are encouraged to attend the hearing and submit written or oral comment. The staff report and draft ordinance will be available at the San Juan County Department of Community Development at 135 Rhone St., during business hours and posted at http://sanjuanco.com/1394/Flood-Hazard-Reduction-Regulation-Update 10 days prior to the hearing.

How to comment:
The official comment period is Wednesday, May 2-Friday, May 18.
Written comments about particular changes should refer to the page and line numbers in the draft ordinance. Written comments submitted prior to 12:00 midday, Thursday, May 17, will be copied for the planning commission unless the planning commissioners wish to review the comments online. For the record, please include your full address in all correspondence.
