The Port of Friday Harbor is excited to announce that on May 18 the port’s acquisition of the Jensen and Sons Boatyard and Marina was finalized.

The port has begun implementing the master plan for the facility, which was adopted in the public hearing on April 11 and can be viewed at www.portfridayharbor.org.

The Port of Friday Harbor Harbormaster is managing Jensen Boat Yard moorage at the main office through the port’s existing systems. Mico Holdings LLC has transitioned into operating the existing boatyard and chandlery and is doing business as Jensen’s. They have hired local tradesman Dennis Foote to manage the yard and have retained the existing yard and lift operators.

Planning work has commenced on the creation of additional marine technical services space in the unused southern portion of the property, and for improvements to the moorage areas.

Port staff would like to thank the Ahrenius family, port commissioners, and citizen’s advisory committee for making this acquisition possible. The staff look forward to taking on this economic development project and working with the community to create a thriving marine center, marina and boatyard for decades to come.
