Moselle Bourne Sturdivant 1925-2011| Passages

Moselle Bourne Sturdivant went home to be with God on Jan. 14 in Anacortes.

Daughter of John and Lottie Edney, Moselle grew up in Oklahoma surrounded by her large extended family.

After graduating from Colcord High School, she moved to California in 1943 in search of better economic opportunities. She was working as a cocktail waitress in San Francisco when she met the handsome merchant marine who would become her husband.

Moselle and Edward Bourne were married in 1948 and had one son, Steven. They moved to Friday Harbor in 1966.

Moselle loved dancing, parties, friends, vacations in Hawaii, and helping Ed at his downtown real estate office.

After his untimely death from cancer in 1981, she met her second husband, Peter Sturdivant, at the Legion Hall.

The couple moved to Anacortes in 1997. They enjoyed travels in their RV, visits with family and old friends, and the adventures of their beloved grandchildren.

Moselle loved sending and receiving greeting cards, and, as family members are now finding, kept most of them.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a caring and fun-loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother.

Moselle is survived by her husband Peter Sturdivant; son Steven Bourne and wife Christine; son Pete Sturdivant and wife Suzanne; grandchildren Lucas, Gabe, and Eila; sisters Lee Gadberry and Sue Parrott; nephew Eddie Boyd; niece Sadhonna Parrott; and many other relatives.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Legion Hall on Feb. 12. The celebration will be a pot luck from 1-3 p.m.
