Islanders can help bring trades training and family-wage jobs to young adults. The EDC’s Trades Education Initiative is participating in the GiveOrcas campaign through the Orcas Island Community Foundation. Donations will be accepted at http://bit.ly/2qpdwm2 through May 19 to fund a construction technology training program, which will start in September.

EDC’s Trades Education Initiative addresses the growing gap between available jobs and younger, often unskilled and unemployed workers. It serves San Juan County businesses and families by training workers in skills such as construction technology, marine technology, plumbing, and other trades.
