The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Nov. 20

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of possible child abuse. The report

was determined to be unfounded.

• A San Juan deputy issued a driver a citation for traveling 41 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for traveling 34 mph in a 25 mph zone, the driver was not wearing a seat belt and the vehicle’s registration was expired. The driver was issued infractions for speed and failing to wear a safety belt.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a vandalism call in the Olga area.

• A deputy responded to a request for a welfare check on rabbits and chickens at a property in Friday Harbor. The deputy took photos of the animals and observed no law violations.

• An Orcas deputy responded to an Eastsound residence known to be the home to a subject who had a local warrant for their arrest. The subject was located, arrested and booked into jail. Evidence of possible stolen items was located.

Nov. 21

• A San Juan deputy responded to a business on a report of an employee stealing money. The employee is believed to have left the county after the incident.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for not wearing a seat belt and the vehicle’s registration was also expired. Citations were issued for failing to wear a safety belt and failing to renew registration over two months. Multiple warnings were also given to the driver.

• A San Juan deputy took a report of identity theft.

• A San Juan deputy was dispatched to a report of a dog at-large. The Deputy issued the dog’s owner a warning letter.

• A Lopez deputy met with a resident regarding a physical assault complaint. The reporting person/victim had to depart for the mainland for an emergency room visit prior to an investigation.

• A San Juan deputy issued a vehicle a parking infraction for parking in a fire zone-no parking zone.

Nov. 22

A Lopez deputy received a complaint from a resident that his neighbor was harassing him by taking videos of him while he was outside his home over the past several months. There was no evidence of a crime discovered.

• A Lopez deputy received a request for a welfare check of a resident. It was discovered a physical assault had occurred. The victim had to depart to visit a hospital ER prior to it being fully investigated. The case has been assigned for a complete criminal investigation.

• A Lopez deputy investigated a threats complaint at the Lopez School. The reporting student stated they heard second hand that another student wanted to kill them. The investigation revealed no evidence of a crime or an imminent threat to students or school staff.

• A San Juan deputy was dispatched to a report of trespassing. The property owner signed a trespass Letter that was served to the suspect.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for failing to have a front-mounted license plate and issued the driver a citation for not wearing a seat belt.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a reported assault.

• An Orcas deputy issued two separate drivers a citation for speeding in two separate traffic stops.

Nov. 23

• A Lopez Island deputy was called regarding a vehicle that had intentionally driven out into a freshly plowed farm field and “cut cookies” leaving deep ruts.

• A San Juan deputy took a report of a runaway juvenile. A pick-up notice was signed.

• A San Juan deputy issued a driver a citation for speeding 55 mph in a 35 mph zone.

• An Orcas deputy issued a driver a warning for speed.

• A deputy on Orcas gave a driver a warning for having a non-functioning tail light.

• An Orcas deputy issued a driver a citation for speeding 54 mph in a 35 mph zone.

• Deputies on Orcas Island assisted a local towing service by providing traffic control during a vehicle recovery.

• Orcas deputies responded to a possible domestic near Eastsound. After an investigation, it was determined it was a civil matter.

• A deputy on Orcas issued a driver a warning for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.

Nov. 25

• A San Juan deputy responded to a walk-in complaint of a problem concerning a voicemail on the reporting party’s phone. The deputy noted there was no criminal law violation but the incident was documented.

• A Lopez deputy investigated a two-vehicle noninjury collision at Aleck Bay Road and Wren Road. One driver was ticketed for making a prohibited right turn. Both cars were driven from the scene.

• A deputy on Orcas issued a driver a citation for speeding, 53 mph in a 35 mph zone.

• An Orcas deputy issued a driver a citation for speeding, 48 mph in a 35 mph zone and for operating a motor vehicle without insurance. The driver was also given warnings for failing to update their address with the department of motor vehicles and for failing to sign registration.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of an erratic driver. Contact was made with the driver in Eastsound, where it was determined the driver was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested, processed and released with a promise to appear in court.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a welfare check on a woman who was reportedly acting strangely. The woman was contacted and it was determined that no further assistance was required. The woman was given a courtesy ride home.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a noise complaint involving a loud generator. An occupant of the residence was contacted and given a verbal warning for violation of the San Juan County noise ordinance.

Nov. 26

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of malicious mischief in Friday Harbor. There are no suspects at this time.

• A deputy on Orcas gave a warning to a driver for speeding.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a report of a wounded deer but was unable to locate the animal.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a request for a welfare check in Friday Harbor. Contact was made and a report filed.

• A Deputy on Orcas discovered a fallen tree partially blocking Crow Valley Road and cleared the hazard.
