The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

April 10

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of vandalism. The incident was documented and a report was generated. No suspect information exists at this time.

• Orcas deputies responded to a welfare check in the Olga area. The subject was later found and EMS was requested for evaluation.

• San Juan deputies were made aware of a drug-related situation. There is currently an ongoing investigation into the matter.

• A deputy was dispatched to a theft in the San Juan Island area. The person reporting the incident was contacted.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a harassment call.

• A deputy issued a citation to a driver in Friday Harbor for speeding.

April 11

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a citizen assist call.

• A Friday Harbor deputy arrested a local man for an active warrant issued out of San Juan County District Court. The man was booked into jail without incident and is awaiting a hearing on the warrant.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of a boat that had washed up on a private beach near Clam Harbor. The reporting party was contacted and the boat examined. The boat was not registered and no serial number was found. Disposing of the boat was left to the property owner.

• A Lopez deputy was called regarding a check fraud incident at the market. The matter is under investigation.

• A deputy issued citations to a driver in Friday Harbor for traveling left of center and not having proof of liability insurance.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a driver for speeding. The person was issued a citation for driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A deputy issued a citation to a driver in Friday Harbor for failing to stop at a stop sign and for not having a driver’s license with them.

• A deputy issued a driver in Friday Harbor citations for not having a valid license and not having proof of liability insurance and warned for failing to stop at a stop sign and not carrying current registration documents.

April 12

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a dog running at large complaint. The complainant and dog owner were contacted. The owner was issued a verbal warning.

• A deputy issued a citation to a driver in Friday Harbor for failing to wear a seat belt.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a driver and issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt.

• A deputy cited a driver for failing to transfer a title within 45 days, not having proof of insurance, having expired vehicle registration and warnings for a defective headlight and failure to obtain a Washington driver’s license.

April 13

• A Lopez deputy was sent to check on a deer that had reportedly been hit by and injured by a car. No deer was found in the area.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a vehicle prowl complaint. The complainant was contacted and an investigation commenced.

• A Lopez deputy was sent to check on a group of goats reportedly running at large. The goats were gone when the deputy arrived in the area.

• A deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding near Lopez Village. The driver was issued a ticket for traveling 50 mph in a posted 25 mph zone.

• A San Juan Island deputy was dispatched to a littering call. One person was issued a citation for “littering–abandoned vehicle.”

• An Orcas deputy conducted a sex offender registration verification. The offender was found to no longer be living at the address. The investigation is ongoing.

April 14

• A Lopez deputy investigated a grounded sailboat in Fisherman Bay. The unoccupied boat had broken loose from its mooring buoy and blown ashore. The vessel owner was on site and making plans to re-float the sailboat off the beach.

• A deputy on Orcas arrested a person wanted for a previous drug possession case. During the arrest, the suspect was found in possession of additional drugs. The suspect was booked into jail on multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance.

• San Juan deputies were advised of a juvenile problem.

• An Orcas deputy collected an unwanted firearm. A report was taken.

• A deputy was dispatched to Roche Harbor Road in Friday Harbor for a domestic dispute. The reporting party stated there was yelling and items being thrown into the roadway at the residence. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a broken broom and some dirt in the roadway in front of the residence.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a harassment call in Eastsound. The suspect was identified and a report was taken.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a theft call in the Olga area. It was reported that some firewood had been stolen off of someone’s property.

• An Orcas deputy stopped a vehicle on Olga Road. The driver was issued a citation for driving 56 mph in a 35 mph zone.

• An Orcas deputy stopped a vehicle on Orcas Road. The driver was issued a citation for driving 47 mph in a 25 mph construction zone. She was also warned for not having a license on her person.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a driver for driving with a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the third degree and issued a citation for not having insurance.

• A Lopez resident turned in a found wallet. Attempts are being made to locate the owner.

April 15

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a burglary complaint. The complainant was contacted and an investigation commenced.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a citizen assist call. The complainant was contacted. The person complained about having been removed from a business.

• A deputy was dispatched to an agency assist in the San Juan area. The reporting deputy assisted child protective services with a juvenile pickup.

• A deputy issued a citation to a driver for a prohibited U-turn in Friday Harbor.

• A San Juan deputy issued citations to a driver for failing to stop at a stop sign and not having proof of current liability insurance.

• A deputy issued a driver a citation for having expired vehicle registration and a warning for failing to turn on taillights after hours of darkness in Friday Harbor.

• A Lopez deputy was called for a harassment complaint.

April 16

• Deputies responded to a single-vehicle collision on McNallie Lane on Orcas Island. The driver was not injured but received a citation for not having a driver’s license.

• A San Juan deputy issued a driver a citation for failing to wear a seat belt and not having proof of insurance and warnings for having expired vehicle registration and a defective taillight.

• Orcas deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the Eastsound area. No crime was committed.
