Submitted by the Friday Harbor Film Festival

The Friday Harbor Film Festival’s first ever “Best of the Fest” tour kicks off in New York City on April 1.

“Hawaii is the second stop, and next year we are hoping to expand the tour even further,” said Jessica Lansfield, managing director of the festival.

The one-day event will take place at the Explorers Club on 46 E 70th Street, New York City, New York.

All the films shown are audience favorites from the 2016 Friday Harbor festival and highlight the benefits of taking risks by stepping out of your comfort zone. The films will be followed by 15-20 minutes of questions and answers, lead by either the filmmaker of an expert on the film’s subject. The schedule includes a breakfast buffet, breaks with snacks twice during the day and a filmmaker reception in the afternoon.

  • Morning program: $30 and includes three films, breakfast and a snack break. Check-in begins at 8 a.m.
  • Afternoon program: $35 and includes three films, a snack break and reception. Check in is at 1:15 p.m.
  • Full-day: $65 and includes breakfast, all films and breaks, as well as the reception.

Films include “Taming Wild: A Girl and A Mustang” by local horsewoman Elsa Sinclair, “Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World,” and “In the Land of the Great Bear.” Each will be followed by a question and answer period with long time researcher Mary Morris. To view the full schedule visit
