Two Friday Harbor residents have applied for appointment to the Friday Harbor Town Council.

Matt Shildneck is a member of the Friday Harbor Historic Preservation Review Board and the Friday Harbor Planning Commission. He applied for the council position vacated by Carrie Lacher when she was elected mayor. He is an electrician with Friday Harbor Electric.

Starr is a former member of the Friday Harbor Planning Commission. She is a licensed clinical social worker and has a private practice in town, working with children, adolescents and adults. She is member of Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor.

The council position position became available when Carrie Brooks resigned, effective July 1. The term ends Dec. 31, 2011. Council members receive $85 a meeting for up to four meetings a month, and are reimbursed for council-related expenses.
