Alan Dortch's letter withdrawing from consideration for Town Council appointment | Political Notebook
July 8, 2010 · Updated 8:14 AM
Alan Dortch has withdrawn his application for appointment to Carrie Brooks' position on the Friday Harbor Town Council.
He submitted this letter to The Journal explaining his decision.
* * *
After much thought, I have decided to withdraw my name from consideration for the vacant position on the Friday Harbor Town Council. As my residence within the town limits of Friday Harbor is for sale, and I likely will move outside the town limits, it only stands to reason that I should withdraw. I feel it would be detrimental to the business of the council to accept an appointment and a month or two later have to resign, due to no longer being a resident of the town.
Sincerely,
Alan Dortch
