The campaign for Friday Harbor mayor is leaning green.

Mayoral candidates Carrie Lacher and Bob Low have committed to no-yard-sign campaigns. Both said they want to avoid the clutter and litter caused by yard signs. In addition, Lacher said campaign signs are divisive and distract from businesses.

The idea came out of a conversation between Ian Byington of By Design and San Juan Update, and Lacher.

Both candidates have been laying out their stands on issues in Q&As, interviews, and one-on-ones with residents. In addition, Lacher is blogging on SanJuanJournal.com and blogspot.com. Low said his campaign is being boosted by "word of mouth" and 4x5 cards that are being handed out.
