The Big Red Barn is the venue for the Tea Party Hoe Down, Aug. 22, 2-5 p.m.
The Big Red Barn is located at the Thorndike Farm, 1721 Cattle Point Road. Admission and dinner by donation.
Guest speakers:
— Herb Meyer, producer and host of "The Siege of Western Civilization," a DVD outlining the threats to our security, our economy, and our culture. During the Reagan Administration, Meyer served as special assistant to the director of Central Intelligence and vice chairman of the CIA’s National Intelligence Council. He was formerly an associate editor of Fortune magazine. He and his wife, Jill, live on San Juan Island.
— Luke Esser, chairman of the Republican Party of Washington. Esser is a former Washington state senator.
— Local and state candidates.
The Island Country Band will provide entertainment; you can learn to line dance too. The dinner menu includes barbecued salmon and Caesar salad, and hot dogs for the kids. Bring a potluck disk to share. Beverages will be available.
