The San Juan County Republicans "Big Red Barn Event" is Saturday, Aug. 25, at E.J. Thorndike's Big Red Barn on Cattle Point Road, noon to 4 p.m.

A showcase for candidates in the November election, the local GOP's annual election forum also features a salmon barbecue. Admission is $20.

The lineup of candidates includes San Juan County Council candidates Marc Florenza and Bob Jarman, state Senate candidate John Swapp, state auditor candidate James Watkins and state Sen. Michael Baumgartner, R-Spokane, running against U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell.

The event format includes candidate speeches and one-on-on time with the candidates. Local GOP Chairwoman Michelle Loftus encourages anyone seeking solutions to local, state and national issues to attend, and to bring questions, idea or solution as well, and to join in a conversation.

For info, Dennis Hazelton, 360-378-2596; Loftus, 360-378-4738.
