The San Juan County Economic Development Council will offer free training in electrical basics this spring, funded by the Orcas Island Community Foundation, Orcas Kiwanis, Islanders Bank, and Heritage Bank.

The course will be taught at Orcas Island High School by Vocational Instructor Brett McFarland and others. The training will include core electrician skills, solar wiring installations, safety and more.

The course will run after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 6 through April 12, from 3:45-5:45 p.m. There is no cost for training; pre-registration and a $10 filing fee is required.
