The Journal of the San Juan Islands announces its endorsement for sheriff in its Aug. 4 edition.

"The Journal of the San Juan Islands did not make lightly its endorsement in the race for San Juan County sheriff," the editorial states. "Five very fine candidates. We’ve studied each candidate’s background, experience and record. We’ve pored over each candidate’s issues and priorities. We’ve interviewed. We’ve covered the forums and studied the Q&As."

The Aug. 4 edition consists of 28 pages: News, Opinion, In Their Words: Candidates for Sheriff, Island Scene, What's Happening!, Around Town, Newsmakers, Be Whale Wise/Whale Information Page, Business, Sports, Law & Justice, Obituaries, Classifieds, At Your Service Professional Directory, Legal Notices, and local advertising.

The Journal is 75 cents per copy at newsstands. Or for convenient mail delivery, call 360-378-5696 or e-mail fbacon@sanjuanjournal.com.
