Fire danger reaches 'high', restrictions in effect
June 17, 2009 · Updated 4:04 PM
Tight restrictions on outdoor burning are in effect as the fire danger level was raised to "high" today in San Juan County.
The danger level was increased from moderate to high earlier today by county Fire Marshal Bob Low, with summer temperatures and prolonged absence of rain continuing to dominate the local weather.
Restrictions now in effect prohibit outdoor burning, with exception of recreational fires, such as barbecues.
