Councilwoman-elect's mom elected to ninth term in New Hampshire state House

If you're in the Pratt residence during a family get-together, you might find it difficult to be the one on the opposing end of a political discussion: The family has a built-in political quorum.

Boyd Pratt, of course, is chairman of the San Juan Island School Board. His wife, Lovel, was elected Nov. 4 to the San Juan County Council. The council member-elect's mother, Barbara Hull Richardson, was elected Nov. 4 to a ninth term in the New Hampshire state House of Representatives.

Richardson, 85, is a Democrat representing Cheshire County. She received 1,184 votes to a write-in candidate's 32.

Richardson is vice chairwoman of the House Committee on Children and Family Law. During her campaign for County Council, Pratt said her mother's legislative service inspired her to run for office.
