The Friday Harbor Town Council has scheduled a Nov. 20, 5:30 p.m. public hearing on the proposed annexation of the so-called Buck/Boreen property.

The council voted Oct. 2 to set the date of the public hearing. The hearing will take place in the San Juan Island Grange Hall.

The property is 46.5 acres, of which 15.5 acres would be sold at market rate by the Buck/Boreen family to the San Juan Community Home Trust to develop an affordable housing neighborhood.

At the hearing, town staff members are expected to present a report on the infrastructure needs and costs.
