September 2, 2008 · Updated 9:59 PM
Sharon Blake's life will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 3, 5 p.m., in the San Juan County Courthouse.
Ms. Blake, 67, was a legal assistant in the courthouse. She fought cancer for a year; that battle ended last week after double pneumonia set in.
"Sharon was gracious and optimistic all the way through," friends wrote in her obituary. "She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A friend to all, she appreciated people, animals, her family and especially her three-year-old grandson, Maddox."
She was born March 1, 1941 in Lynnwood, Wash. She passed away Aug. 29 in Island Hospital in Anacortes. She last lived on the 500 block of University Road and was a resident of the island for 10 years.
She is survived by her parents, William and Vi Morrice, of Washington state; her daughter, Ronia Blake, of Texas; her grandson, Maddox Blake, of Texas; and her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Connie Grant, of Washington state.
