Inter Island Medical Center has been recertified as a Level V Trauma Center by the state Department of Health.

This designation confirms that IIMC, while operating as a rural health clinic, provides 24/7 emergency care by specially trained physicians and staff.

All state-mandated trauma training, equipment and emergency management procedures are in place in the medical center.

Medical center administrator Beth Gieger said of the recertification, “I want to especially commend the physicians and staff whose dedication to planning, training and always available service makes this level of community care possible.”
