Events on San Juan, Orcas, Lopez featured in GOP 'Reagan Weekend'

San Juan County Republicans will host a Ronald Reagan Dinner at the Blue Water Grill in Friday Harbor, Friday, March 7, beginning at 5 p.m.

The fundraiser, $50 per ticket, includes dinner, history trivia contest and two auctions. The dinner guest speaker, Seattle Port Commissioner Bill Bryant, will talk about “What American Liberty Really Means.”

First elected to Seattle's port commission in 2007, Bryant served as president of the commission for three years, 2009-11. In 1992, he founded Bryant Christie Inc., a company that strives to eliminate foreign trade barriers and develop international markets, and is an investor and advisor to Deneki Outdoors, which operates fly fishing camps in Alaska, British Columbia, South Andros and Chile. Friday's dinner is a featured event of the local GOP's "Reagan Weekend," with events on San Juan, Lopez and Orcas islands. Bryant will also speak at a noon lunch on Lopez Island, March 8, at the Lopez Island Community Church, $20 per ticket, followed by afternoon coffee at Mamie's Boardwalk Cafe at the Orcas ferry landing, at 4 p.m. (RSVP to 468-2043 (Lopez) and to 376-2971 (Orcas), respectively.

Other state and county party officials, including state Vice Chair Luanne VanWerven, will also be attending.
