Jackson wins second round; repeats as weekly Wilson Derby prize winner
Second verse, same as the first.
John Jackson pocketed another $50 for biggest fish of the week, for the second week in a row, and remains on top of the leader board after two full weeks of competition in the 10th Annual Frank Wilson Memorial Fishing Derby.
Jackson bested the derby field for the second-straight week by snagging a 11.66 pounder, eclipsing his 10.78-pound Week 1 winning fish by nearly a pound. Kevin Klein netted Week 2's second-biggest fish, a 10.28 pounder, and 2012 derby champ Geno James landed a 10.08-pound fish to finish in third place in the Week 2 results.
Sponsored by King's Marine, the 10-week long annual fishing derby is named after the late Frank Wilson, a former chief of San Juan Emergency Medical Services, and derby proceeds benefit EMS.
In addition to weekly cash prizes for biggest fish of the week, the derby features a $1,000 grand prize for the biggest fish hooked, landed and weighed in over the course of the 10-week long tournament. Derby weigh-in is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at King's Meat Department.
Entry fee is $50, contact King's Marine, (360) 378-4953, for entry information.
