Ghatan bests Shildneck, Prop. 1 fails and more | Election 2013

In the race for Town of Friday Harbor council Anna Maria de Freitas ran unopposed for position 3.

For position 4, Farhad Ghatan received 59 percent of the vote while his opponent Matt W. Shildneck received 41 percent.

Brent Snow ran unopposed for San Juan Island School District #149 School Board Director 1.

June Arnold ran unopposed for San Juan Island School District #149 School Board Director 2.

Mark Schwinge received S58 percent of the vote for San Juan County Public Hospital District #1 Hospital Commissioner 1, while Howie Rosenfeld received 42 percent of the vote.

Scott Zehner received 87 percent of the vote San Juan Island Park and Recreation District Park & Recreation Commissioner 3, while Ian Paterson received 13 percent of the vote.

The Prop. 1 amendment concerning the charter failed with only 35 percent of the vote.

The Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District Prop. No. 1 concerning a one-year levy to fund solid waste disposal activities passed with 78 percent of the vote.

Locally, I-522, the measure concerning the labeling of GMO foods, was approved. But state-wide, it was rejected by 55 percent.

The next ballot count is Nov. 7 at 5 p.m.
