The Washington State Department of Health has taken disciplinary actions against the following health care provider in San Juan County:

-- In May, the state Medical Commission issued a statement of charges against physician Charles S. Blackadar of Orcas Island.

The Medical Commission is investigating whether Blackadar had a sexual relationship with a patient.

Blackadar was a U.S. Navy doctor practicing family medicine at the Naval Hospital in Bremerton at the time. The Navy determined he violated an order to end the relationship and took punitive action, which included his resignation from the Navy.

Blackadar’s license to practice medicine in Washington state is still active.
