Center, Trish Lehman visits with well-wishers Howard Schonberger and Joyce Thomson at the champagne memorial for her mother, B.J. Miner, who died May 12. About 150 friends and family members attended the memorial at American Legion Post 163, Friday. The Legion color guard and rifles fired a salute for the World War II Navy ensign and nurse. Her late husband, Ross Miner, was a decorated Marine colonel and veteran of three wars. Brian Brown of the San Juan Lions Club led the program, which followed the early morning scattering of her ashes at the beach on Andrews Bay, where she and her husband lived for nearly three decades. Family members and friends came from Chicago, Federal Way, Kansas City, Kingston, Lynnwood, Seattle, Sequim, Spokane and Stanwood.
