Four-year scholarship for Wynn Barnard
Friday Harbor High School graduating senior Wynn Barnard has received a Sullivan Leadership Award to attend Seattle University.
The Sullivan Leadership Award is a four-year, full scholarship (tuition, room and board). More than 350 students from seven western states compete for the nine Sullivan Awards given annually in support of students who have promoted social justice through their service and leadership.
Wynn, the daughter of Bryn and Rebecca Barnard of Friday Harbor, plans to major in cultural anthropology.
In addition, Wynn received Soroptimist Internationalâs regional Violet Richardson Award, April 26 in Coeur dâAlene, Idaho. Wynn was presented with two checks for $1,000 each â one for herself and one for the volunteer organization she helped to found at her high school, Village-to-Village. She spoke to a group of nearly 400 Soroptimists about her project, which supports schools in impoverished villages in Kenya and Peru.
