County Democrat and Republican party leaders don’t often agree on issues, especially ballot issues.
But on Columbus Day, local party chairs Michelle Loftus, GOP, and Ron Zee, Democrats, joined hands on the steps of the County Courthouse to endorse the amendments proposed by the Charter Revision Commission.
“I’m looking for a way to ensure effective and efficient county government,” said Loftus, adding local Republicans met Sept. 22 to discuss reducing the size of the County Council from six to three and changing the positin of county administrator to manager.
Zee, chairman of local Democratic party and a charter review commissioner, voted in favor of the commission amendments and has campaigned in support of Propositions 1, 2 and 3.
Loftus, on Monday, and Zee have both previously said they do not think the amendments, if approved, will result in an advantage for either party.
