Free firewood? National Parks could be the ticket

The National Park Service will have a stockpile of free firewood available, Friday, Oct. 19, at the service road in front of its West Valley Road maintenance shop, at English Camp.
The wood is distributed via a lottery system, and participants must contact the Parks Service, 378-2240 ext. 2221, by noon, Oct. 10, to enter. Pickup times are assigned to those selected by lottery, with notification expected by Oct. 15.
Lottery winners are allow 20 minutes to collect wood, up to one level truck bed; trailers are prohibited, as is use of chainsaws, handsaws or any other cutting or chopping tool. The wood is for personal use, and commercial sale is prohibited by federal law. For info, 378-2240, ext. 2225.
