Washington state Sen. Kevin Ranker, D-Orcas, will be at the San Juan County Democratic Headquarters in Friday Harbor today, Thursday, for a two-hour election season Q & A session, beginning at 4 p.m.

Today's Q & A session with Sen. Ranker is the first in a series of "Come and Ask 'Em" programs sponsored by local Democratic party, an informational series with elected representatives and other political figures in the run-up to the Nov. 6 general election. Here's the lineup for the election Q & A series:

— Monday, Sept. 17: District 1 County Councilwoman Lovel Pratt, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

— Tuesday, Sept. 25: State Rep. Kristine Lytton, D-Anacortes, 5-7 p.m. (this session will be devoted to discussion of charter schools, a statewide initiative on the Nov. 6 general election ballot).

— Tuesday, Oct. 2: District 3 County Councilman Howie Rosenfeld, 5:30-7 p.m.

— Thursday, Oct. 8: Elaine Kendall, discussing San Juan County Initiative 2012-4, a measure which would prohibit growing of genetically modified organisms (GMO).

Headquarters of the SJC Democratic party, also known as Democracy Corner, is located at 135 Second Street, in Friday Harbor (behind Friday Harbor Drug and next to Marilyn's Cafe).
