Seattle land-use attorney joins CSA's stable of experts

March 28, 2012 · 5:21 PM

Attorney Sandy Mackie of Seattle has joined the Common Sense Alliance.

Mackie, a leading land-use attorney with the Seattle-based firm of Perkins Coie Law Offices, joins the ranks of engineers, hydrologists, geologists, attorneys and business leaders offering professional expertise to CSA and its members. He is expected to offer assistance and guidance in resolving legal issues pertaining to the update of the San Juan County's critical areas ordinance and shoreline master program, as prepared by the county, according to a CSA press release.

As part of its mission, CSA seeks to educate county elected and appointed officials, and volunteer planners, and the public, on legal issues and the formal process involving updates of the county's CAO and SMP. The group considers it critical that potential impacts and competing interests, such as social, economic and environmental, are evaluated and balanced through the use of common sense and as state law requires as part of the update of local land-use regulations.
