Yakima ferry still under repair; should be back in service next week

January 12, 2012 · 2:26 PM

Washington State Ferries has released the following update on the status of the Yakima ferry, which is currently out of service.

Repairs continue on the Yakima, and we expect the vessel to return to service mid to late next week. Until then, the Elwha, Sealth and Evergreen State will continue to provide mainland service (with the Chetzemoka operating inter-island on weekdays).

Due to the Evergreen State’s smaller capacity than the Yakima, early morning sailings are running late, so if you have a tight schedule we recommend taking an earlier ferry than you normally would. If your schedule has flexibility, we recommend taking a later sailing leaving the islands.

Please continue to anticipate delays until the Yakima returns to service. We apologize for the inconvenience. Updates will occur as more information is available.
