Budget balanced on concessions

December 7, 2011 · Updated 11:37 AM

Local 1849 and the San Juan County Council have accepted a tentative agreement involving terms that will help find a balanced county budget in 2012 and 2013.

The terms include a high-deductible health plan for county employees in 2012, a new job classification system, contract extension through December 2014, with the possibility of a 1 percent to 2 percent cost of living adjustment tied to a regional economic indicator.

The county administration will be drafting a contract amendment for the specific terms of the agreement.
