Lytton in Friday Harbor, Wednesday; budget cuts, public education top agenda

State Representative Kristine Lytton will be on San Juan Island Wednesday to talk about pending cuts in the state's next two-year budget and the impact those cuts may have on funding for public education.

Because an anticipated shortfall in revenue, lawmakers will be looking to cut another $1.4 billion to $2 billion from the state's 2011/2013 biennial budget when they meet in "special session" later this month.

Lytton, D-Anacortes, will meet with teachers, administrators, parents and community members as part of a roundtable discussion at Friday Harbor Middle School Commons, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public.
